I Vibe-Coded My Website in 36 Hours (And I Don't Write Code)

I just vibe-coded the Diary of an African Entrepreneur (DOAE) website: www.adedejiadebusoye.com

I always thought my website which is primarily for promoting the Diary of an African Entrepreneur (DOAE) was, let's just say, in the 90s. You see, DOAE was started to rally, equip, and connect African entrepreneurs, so that the next generation of businesses are built to last, scale, and matter. A poor website was never going to do justice to that goal.

I vibe-coded a new website using Claude Code. The beautiful thing was that I could finally build something that matched my vision without waiting for a developer - integrated YouTube videos, Articles, Ask The CEO segment, Showcase African SMEs, and sell copies of Scaling for Success.

And all this was done in less than 36 hours, and that's because of the rigour of my job which meant I could not just focus on this. Here was how it went:

  • Told Claude Code what I wanted to achieve but requested that we plan it together.
  • Had several back and forth with the prompts, providing clarity, information, files, etc to Claude Code to set things up
  • Claude Code handled 80% of the technical bit but there was the 20% I had to do. For example, integrating the CMS, email platform, hosting and deployment. Also had to edit some settings on my hosting platform. This took the longest time because of some issues I had to deal with. But here is the interesting part: Claude Code walked me through what I had to do step by step. The level of precision and detail was just breath-taking.

One major takeaway for me is that while it removed my need to code, it definitely required my ability to think.

So, even for a non-techy like myself, I successfully built a DIY website on my own. I'm yet to see how it holds against traffic volume, etc, but I'd say this is a good start. I'd encourage everyone with some idea to try this out and share your results for others learning.
